Can democracy take on terrorism? Tell us! Posted By jayesh on 20-May-2009 in Viewed 70 times.

Voters across Jammu and Kashmir ignored the poll boycott call given by the separatists and braved the bitter cold to exercise their franchise during the recently held assembly elections. In a major setback to the separatists, pro-democracy parties like the National Conference, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party received a fair share of votes, with the NC and Congress tipped to form an alliance.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has hailed the results of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections as the victory of democracy.

The state, which has been witness to a bloody era of militancy and extremism, has clearly chosen the agenda of development over separatism.

Do you think that results of the J&K polls show that a well-governed and strong democracy can tackle extremism, by eradicating factors like communalism at its very root?

In view of the increasing number of ruthless terror attacks across India and the war rhetoric between India and Pakistan, do you think that democracy, not war, is the only way to answer terrorism? Tell us!

It is attributed to Mrs Karkare that her daughter wants to give a chance to KASAB to understand his act and allow him
to reform. This is what a wife of christian missionary had done in Orissa.
If every one is allowed to get free, how
can you stop attacks on India. Will Mrs Karkare answer this???

As far India is concerned, here is no Strong democray means we have colition govt. in which all party has its own
regional interest over national interest. STRONG DEMOCRACY NEVER STOP OR TACKLE TERRIRISOM OR EXTREMISM IN ANY PART OF
THE WORLD.
ONLY STRONG LEADERSHIP MAY TACKLE THIS PROBLEM.

Democracy as followed in India is no democracy at all. Politicians, Babus and now the Corporate - Owner CXXS are the
Kings. There is no egalitarian society worth its name though the Ministers keep harping from roof tops that they have
been the best and the most benevolent leaders. While the poor continue to remain so, the rich got richer every day, which
fortunately has been halted for the time being, thanks to their excessive greed and ruthless & immoral economic
behaviour,(abetted by the willing independent directors of dubious pedigree, regulators, accountants and auditors) which
has caught up with them.
Terrorism is an off shoot of the depravations suffered by the masses who are taken advantage
of by the lawless elements of the society. In fact the fountain head of terrorism are the very same CXXs and Babus and
politicians whose misdeeds remain unchecked. Terrorist on the streets are not the rich people. These people who get
caught are only the tools of their own masters, who remain invisible to the naked eye and the willing authorities. They
are the modern-day terrorists without weaponry or WMD and who are being exposed in the media and yet no action is being
taken. Why blame the Pakistani Government of inaction?
In such a concoction of society, Democracy and Terrorism will
coexist and can never be separated for generations. It is futile to attempt their segregation. All talk of a "Ram
Rajya" or "Heaven on the Earth" are empty rhetoric pandering to the willing party members

YES DEFINITELY. It should clearly be understood that we have the type of democracy that we deserve. i.e democracy to
succeed should have educated and enlightened electorates. Here in our country with a large percentage of illiteracy,
the voters simply do not know why they are voting and how it serves our purpose. Most of our electorate only vote for
the symbol and not the person representing the symbol. So under these circumstances we cannot have a parliament of
educated and efficient representatives. Such a body of persons are of no use to the people or to the country.
It all
shows that a democracy to perform its duties properly should be constituted by the right people, that is
voters.

Israel pounded gaza for 22 days. 13 Israeli lives lost....1000s killed in Gaza. Math works in favor of Israeli band of
tackling terror. Instead od waiting for the terrorists to come to our our homeland and strike us, take them in their own
land. Perfect logic. World nations was kept as bystanders, including its neighbors. Trouble the trouble, so that trouble
never ever troubles you back. Indian Govt......are you listening?
