Welcome to our group! firstly i am writing this as our group has just exploded, welcome all the new members. As well as a lot of new members their has been a lot of controversy, this i feel is down to the fact that a lot of the new people joining may not already Practise parkour, want to start or just learn about it. Thefore i am writing this to try help people out and stop a lot of the arguing over what "is" and "isnt" parkour FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION EVEN AS IMPARTIAL AS I TRY TO MAKE IT, IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ME YOU ARE WELCOME TO POST AN ARGUMENT AS LONG AS YOU DO IT WITH AN OPEN MIND I AM NOT A FAN OF FLAMERS what is parkour? the definition of parkour is very blurred but is widely regarded as "Expression through movement" By its nature does not have a definition it is an expression, everyone expresses things differently, it is not like other sports were you must adder to certain rules and regulations you can make it up as you go along. Although having said that it is usually any alternative flowing movement threw a landscape (usually but not necessarily urban), doing what the average person would not. Physical and metal fitness play an important part in challenging obstacles in a new and outside the box manor, running, jumping, climbing, crawling they all go. who invented parkour no-one invented parkour someone just gave it a name, when you were a child jumping over walls and railings instead of walking round them you were practising it you just didnt call it parkour. The person who gave it this name is widely known as David Belle. David has spent over 15 years of his life dedicated to parkour pushing it to new levels and boundaries just goggle his name and watch some of his videos. if you wish to see some of his skill and his outlook on its philosophies click > here where can i learn more there are many good sites on the net with huge networks of Traceurs (someone who practises parkour) who will teach you how best and most safely enjoy the sport just have a look at any of the links i have below as there may be people in your town, village, city. there also a good number of tutorials on the web such as ones found on urban freeflow > here flips this is one of the biggest arguments in pakour and a pointless one in my opinion, as parkour is an expression its is up to yourself whether flips are part of it or not. parkour is defiantly not all about flips but it is also definitely devoid of them. As David says in one of his early videos "i dont always do it... but a little backflip, its not really a part of parkour but as iv done gymnastics, i like to do it, its a pleasure" i think this sums it up you dont need to do flip to fluidly move from one place to another but if youve ever done one, dam it feels nice so if you enjoy it and you want to add them to your flow whats wrong with it. in the end it all about enjoyment or why bother....... and finaly Lastly Pakour is about getting out there and doing it, not definitions and arguments (thats what im here to do) so if you like what you hear then get out there and give it ago and have some fun.
