They met in a chatroom,
One for people ten and up.
Their conversation started,
With a simple, "'Sup?"
She was just twelve,
And he was older by seven years.
They'd only talked for a while,
But she was already laughing in tears.
It was like they'd known each other forever,
They got along so well.
Unknowingly though,
Deeply into love, they fell.
She knew that it was weird,
To fall for someone you didn't know.
But she couldn't deny her feelings,
And didn't know which way to go.
He felt that it was pretty stupid,
To fall for someone you met online.
But he didn't know she loved him,
So he thought everything would be fine.
Until one day she couldn't take it,
And she told him how she felt.
At that moment he didn't know what to do,
But her words made his heart melt.
He still didn't mention his feelings,
Taking in the fact that he was nineteen.
He'd be looked down at as a pedophile,
If he started dating a girl not yet even thirteen.
Inside, he truly loved her,
And he knew that he did.
But the feelings that he felt,
He hid.
So one day he said to her,
"Internet relationships are dumb."
And she felt her world drop,
As her heart began to grow numb.
He started showing up less,
And she didn't see him on for almost a year,
Until, one day,
He simply decided to disappear.
He got a new username,
And watched her as she signed on everyday.
She wouldn't give up on him,
She still had so much to say.
And finally he asked her,
"Why are you always online?"
And she answered,
"Because I'm waiting for that love of mine."
He felt a shooting pain in his heart,
He couldn't deny that he loved her, too.
But he still found the guts to say,
"And if he doesn't love you?"
And she simply replied,
"I don't care. I still love him anyway,
Just because he doesn't want to be with me,
Does that mean I have to stay away?"
Weeks passed, then months,
And yet she still wanted to wait.
He didn't understand why she'd do so,
It wasn't as if their meeting was fate.
He then stopped signing on overall,
But till this day, she's still there.
Everyone tells her he doesn't love her,
But she never seems to care.
And still, to this day,
He's never signed on to talk to me.
His friends told me everything,
About the feelings that I didn't get to see.
They told me that he's never stopped loving me,
And he's never loved another girl.
That he's still not willing to admit to me,
That I'm his whole world.
So I still sit here waiting,
For almost ten hours a day.
All just so I can speak those words,
That I finally got to say...
"I love you."
