I'm a guy studying for my A-levels at the moment and yet I have little-to-no motivation. I used to be one of those people that waits until the day before to do homework and coursework in a total rush. Sometimes I'd spend my time thinking of an excuse that would get me out of the work rather than do the work. I have three A-levels to do, I hate two of them and the other one is good but requires a lot of work at the moment. I have no motivation to work and I fear this may be because I have lost faith in society. What will happen when I finish A-levels? I'll go to University. After that? I'll get a job. Sadly however this is when it seems to go down hill a bit. I'll work for around 40 years, during which most of my social live will be replaced with work and after that time I'll retire and spend my days sitting around doing (if you'll excuse the phrase) bugger all. Then I'll probly die at some stage. Tempting isn't it? Some new way of living needs to be created, not that I can think of a different way to live. Communism seemed like a fairly good idea until they messed that up. Some way we don't have to exclusivly work for most of our lives just to survive and own a house, sometimes have "presents". It doesn't look like a fun way to spend 35-40 years of my life, I've seen what it's done to my parents and their (very few) friends. My time is mostly spent reading (non-educational) books, watching DVDs, listening to music and playing computer games. Anything to keep me away from work. I seem to lack any semblance of caring. Parents and teachers all come up with reasons for me to work hard but none are interesting. Not even the old "You'll never get a good job! / go to the right university!" line works anymore. I may be a tad screwed when it comes to real life. My advice to anyone who has bothered to read this all the way through is to enjoy your school days while you can, they may seem shit but what's to come isn't going to be a picnic, so mess around and have fun while you're allowed to before you become an adult stuck in the cogs of the world. Also, while I'm here, there is a distinct lack of good-looking girls around at the moment - this may acctually be my only motivation to go to University. Sad isn't it? But anyway, ‘Til next time my friends.
